A traditional garden in Offham, Kent

This was a very plain, mostly lawned garden. The concrete paving close to the house and unsightly raised beds gave a very utilitarian feel to the garden.

We angled the new formal lawn at 45 degrees to the house and laid smaller unit paving.

Timber sleepers in a gravel area allowed access to the lawn from the paving at the living room side of the property.

An area of herbaceous planting was included to break up the areas of paving. A sundial on a plinth rose above this planting and was emphasised by the Alliums that surrounded it.
